Frequently Asked Questions
Which parts of Royal Victoria Park are you responsible for?
We are responsible only for the amenity areas (see maps) and the covenants that form part of the TP1 agreement.
Are you responsible for the roads and the street lighting?
No. The Estate roads (except for the private elements that are the responsibility of the adjoining freeholders) are all adopted and thus maintained by Bristol City Council. Bristol City Council are also responsible for the majority of the street lighting - except for a couple of lights outside 40 and 63 RVP. Please contact the Council directly to report any issues or contact us if it involves lighting outside 40 or 63 RVP.
Can I install solar panels on my house?
The Brentry Park development is in a conservation area and so you are required to obtain planning permission from Bristol City Council if you wish to install solar panels on a roof slope that faces the road or is publicly visible.

Do I need your permission to put an extension or conservatory on my house?
You should not change the physical appearance of your house without written permission from the management company, or from David Wilson Homes (DWH) if you live in John Repton Gardens. This includes extensions or any other physical change eg. new windows, front door, garage doors. Permission should be sought before work starts. This is in addition to any relevant planning permissions you require from Bristol City Council. A fee may be payable to the Management Company to review the plans.
Why do I need your permission to make changes to my house? I have planning permission so surely that's enough?
One of the obligations of the management company is to ensure that Royal Victoria Park retains the same 'look and feel' as it did when it was first built. This extends to ensuring that covenants are respected so that all residents can enjoy the area. If you do not secure approval, and covenants have been breached as a result of the work, the management company will not be able to issue a Confirmation Certificate when you sell your house which will delay, or even stop your sale, as title to the property cannot be made with the Land Registry without the certificate.
Surely I can paint my house a colour of my choice?
For the first ten years (from the date of the TP1 as it applies to your house) you cannot change the exterior colour of your house - be that the exterior render or front door / garage door etc. After 10 years, changes require written approval from the management company. For your information, you will find below the colours used when the estate was first built.

John Repton Gardens
As all of the properties were built with white exterior paintwork, that will remain the only acceptable colour to be used across all exterior paintwork.
